PVD Coloured Stainless Steel Canopy Soffit
A PVD coloured stainless steel soffit for the underside of an entrance canopy. Because the soffit is seen from below and often in the shade, a coloured metal surface catches and returns the light coming from the entrance itself, giving the underside a warmth that a plain finish does not have.
Why colour works better underneath
A soffit is lit from the side and from the entrance rather than from the sky. On a coloured surface that light is reflected back with the tone of the coating, so the underside of the canopy glows rather than sitting in shadow. In the evening, when the interior light spills out, the effect is strongest.
Continuity with the portal
The soffit colour is normally carried into the portal and column cladding so the entrance reads as one material family. Where champagne, bronze or gold is used, PVD batches are held to an average colour difference below DE 1.0 so soffit and face do not diverge under different lighting.
Practical notes
Soffit panels are formed as flat or folded elements with joints running toward the entrance. Panel module is set against the canopy depth so joint spacing stays regular in perspective.
