Folded Stainless Steel Roof Panel

A folded stainless steel roof panel produced around an expressed fold line. Where a roof is the visible part of a building's identity, the folds are not hidden detail: they define the silhouette and control how light breaks across the surface.

Geometry before panelisation
On a folded roof the fold lines are the architecture, so the panel layout has to follow them rather than cut across them. Panel size, forming direction and fold positions are resolved from the project drawings before any sheet is formed, because a fold that lands mid-panel cannot be corrected later.
Joints as expression
Expressed joints are part of the design intent here. Standing seams and fold edges give the roof a scale and a direction that a smooth surface does not have, and they allow the surface to read as constructed metal rather than as an abstract shape.
Surface direction
Brushed finishes with a directional grain reinforce the fold geometry, because the grain changes tone across each plane as the light moves. Reflective and PVD surfaces are used where the roof is meant to carry colour or catch the sky. Suitability for exterior use depends on the project environment, substrate and technical requirements.
