Etched Decorative Stainless Steel Elevator Panel

An etched stainless steel panel for elevator doors, surrounds and landing surfaces. The pattern is etched into the surface rather than printed onto it, so the metal remains the material and the decoration survives handling and cleaning.

Etching versus printing
An etched pattern is part of the surface: the acid removes material and leaves a relief that reflects light differently from the polished face. That is why an etched panel keeps its pattern under direct light and after cleaning, where a printed graphic would wear. The depth also means the pattern reads differently at an angle, which suits doors seen from changing positions.
Pattern and panel layout
Because the pattern sits on the panel, the layout has to be planned against the door module and the surround. Patterns are positioned so the composition stays centred on the door and continues across the surround, rather than stopping at the panel edge.
Surface combinations
Etching is usually combined with a mirror or brushed base, and can be paired with PVD colour where a stronger decorative effect is required. Where colour is used, the batch is held to an average DE below 1.0.
