What Ra value should a mirror finish hold?

Update Time:2026/10/29

On this specification, mirror (Super 8K) panels are quoted at Ra 0.3, the same surface roughness basis applied to hairline, vibration and sandblast. One number across the family keeps two panels from claiming different values for the same look. Confirm the target on the approved sample.

Why one number, not a range

A single site-wide basis means the inspection report, the drawing and the quotation all cite the same value. Ranges invite two suppliers to quote the same finish at different numbers.

How it is verified

An inspection report recording measured roughness, plus a side-by-side check against the retained approved sample. The instrument number and the visual check answer different questions.

What affects mirror quality more

Flatness. A panel held within 3 mm flatness reads as a clean mirror; a panel that is optically wavy shows distortion in reflection no matter how low the roughness.
