Is PVD colour coating durable enough for outdoor facades?
Yes, for architectural exterior use. The PVD layer is an inorganic, hard film deposited in vacuum, so it does not chalk, fade through pigment breakdown or degrade under UV the way an organic coating does. Durable is not indestructible.
What it resists
UV exposure, humidity, normal rain washing and routine pH-neutral cleaning. The colour is part of the surface, not a film sitting on top of it.
What it does not resist
Deep impact that breaks through to the substrate, abrasive pads and scouring powders, strong acids, and chloride deposits left unwashed for long periods.
What protects the result
Correct substrate grade, the right base finish under the coating, protective film until handover, and a maintenance schedule that removes deposits rather than scrubbing them off.
